
Mr Chittock the builder came to talk to us on monday about sound and soundproofing. Did you know that there are 2 different types of pink batts (shown in picture) the green is for soundproofing and the pink is for warmth. He also showed us some light and some heavy concrete.
I thought it was interesting that walls and windows had gaps in them. This confirmed our thinking that sound vibrates through objects that are touching. If there is a gap (like the gap between two sheets of glass in double glazing, the sound waves can't vibrate all the way through? Am I right? Can someone help me to justify my thinking with a diagram or animation?
